Things you need to know about hair transplantation

What is hair transplantation?

Hair transplantation is a procedure that consist the removal of hair in the back of head, then re-implanting it to the hairless region (hair share). This method means that your own hair will be re-implanted back to you or in another word hair transplantation (or hair follicular extraction). Decreasing hair density is reconstructed with healthy hair follicles and this intensively cared practice.

Newly planted hair’s growth direction will be exactly same with the other present hair’s direction. That way, it will give you a natural look at all times. Natural hairline and hair’s growth direction are as much important as the quantity of re-implanted hair follicles. How is the hair transplantation being done with the FUE method?

Preparation for the surgery

Before the treatment, certain studies with the blood work should be done. Surgeon would want to make sure that your general health is good at this point.
Give up your usage of alcohol and nicotine for a couple of days before and after the treatment.
Any drugs that consists acetyl salicylic acid (aspirin for example) or any other active substances which inhibits blood clotting should not be taken for ten days before the treatment.
During treatment and the time period after the surgical operation, patient must wear clothes that can be opened from front and should not wear any clothes that must be pulled over the head.
Please wash your hair on the day of the surgery.
Before the operation get well-rested and have a breakfast like you do it every day.

How long is the operation ?

Hair transplantation is a practical and painless procedure that is being done with local anesthesia. You will be discharged from the hospital about eight hours later.

Post-operative Instructions

To get the best results, you can give yourself a great deal of contribution with properly done after treatment care. We recommend to you to take into account these instructions and safety measures below. Not applying these rules may effect the success of the treatment and the healing process in a negative way.

The medication below must be taken the way it was instructed to:

If you’re in pain you can take painkillers by one for every four hours. Please do not forget that you can take four pills a day at the most.
Antibiotics should be taken twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, after breakfast and dinner.

Day One and the general after treatment care

After FUE treatment you can return to daily routine of your life, but to prevent the possible bleeding after the procedure, you must be extremely careful for the first two days. The hair transplanted areas should not be touched. You must avoid any kind of touch in any way, otherwise there is a risk that the transplanted hair to fall down. In this period, do not wash the newly implanted hair. You’ll be needing extreme protection for a little while longer! For a couple of days you must be careful to avoid any hard physical work and do not lean front or back too fast. Try to keep your upper body and especially your head the most straight way possible.

You must be very careful when dressing or undressing! Especially in the very first days.
Please be careful during sleep too. We recommend you to stack some pillows and to use a neck pillow or roll pillow to keep your head straight and sleeping in a half straight position. Not to loosen up the newly transplanted hair, be very careful to let the least amount of other material to touch the transplanted area. Healing process of the connective tissue takes about five or six days. After that, accidentally removal of the transplanted hair is not a problem anymore.
Drink a lot of fluids to drain the fluids given to you during the operation.
Right after surgery, temporary incrustation of the scars in the related area is natural and it’s a part of the natural healing process. There scabs will fall off with the hair about ten days later, but you should not be concerned about this situation. After a short period of time, you’re going to see that new, thin hair growing out in that area.
We ask you to not to wear hats or any kind of headgear for 14 days after the hair transplantation.
You must avoid any sportive activities, direct sunlight and solarium for two months.
For three months after the procedures, you mustn’t go any swimming pools and you must avoid any sauna visits.
Do not use any hair gel or hairspray for two months!

Day Three

First hair care:

Starting the third day after treatment, you should wash your hair every day for ten days. Please follow the instructions below when washing:

Applying and rinsing the lotion:

Put the lotion that provided by us to the hair transplanted area carefully, without pressuring it too much and with short touches by your clean finger tips. That way scabs on your head will start to get soft directly. The part in back of your head that the hair removed from can be applied with lotion normally and you can massage the area with circular moves. Let the lotion stay on your head for approximately 30 to 45 minutes. After that, you can rinse it carefully, with gentle touches and warm water that you put in a some kind of container. The part in the back of your head that the hair was removed from can be rinsed as the same, normally with warm water.

Applying and rinsing the shampoo:

Mix a container full of water with the recommended shampoo (Sebamed).

Apply the shampoo to the hair planted area carefully and gently, without applying to much pressure. Afterwards you can rinse the shampoo carefully with a container full of water. You can rinse normally the part that the hair removed.

IMPORTANT: Touch the hair planted area with short and delicate touches. Certainly do not rub or scrub.

Rinse your hair with plenty of warm water.
Please stream the water slowly and without any water pressure. Do not put your hair directly under the shower head, also do not use very hot water and do not stay under the water for very long.
Do not use a hair dryer to dry your hair. Dry your hair with a hand towel and with gentle touches.
Itching in the parts of the head that has been removed hair from and/or planted with hair is normal and that’s a part of known healing process. Please do not try to remove the scabs. Also do not scratch the areas that has been planted with hair.

Day Seven

You can sleep in your normal position again.

Day Thirteen

The scabs that hasn’t fallen yet, must be removed by rubbing very slowly and carefully with fingertips during the shampooing.
